Get Out! Mini-Camps 2008               

Selected Dates from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Cave Critters                             Mondays: June 23, July 21, & August 18

Explore the many wonders of caves and their environment both above and below ground! We'll break open a geode in search of a miniature cave! Unearth yourselves and discover all the features that make caves unique from sinkholes to springtails!

 

Rock Hounds                            Tuesdays: June 24, July 22, & August 19

Uncover the colorful world of rocks, minerals and gemstones as you examine specimens on the trail as well as in our private collections. Mining for gemstones at the Quarry's Edge Mining Sluice is a highlight of this camp!

 

Fossil Fanatics                     Wednesdays: June 25, July 23, & August 20

Dig in and discover a life story - hidden within a rock! Travel through time as you hunt for Wisconsin's past in local limestone. Mining for REAL fossils at the Quarry's Edge Mining Sluice results in your very own fossil collection!

Join the Lunch Bunch!    $5 per child/per day             12:00 - 12:30 PM

Extend your adventure with stories, reflections and maybe even some songs with your camp guide over a picnic of hot dog, chips, soda (or water) and a cookie!

Youth Service Days                

June 19, July 17, and August 21 from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM

FREE for youth ages 12 and older             Registration required; space is limited

Help create and beautify the grounds around the mound! Projects are designed around needs as determined by Cave of the Mounds National Natural Landmark. Past projects include invasive species removal, trail maintenance, gardening, and educational enhancement. Scouts and Environmental Clubs encouraged to participate!

Fridays from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM  from  June 20- August 22, 2008
