Cave of the Mounds Named 2024 Climate Champion
Cave of the Mounds, a National Natural Landmark and popular Midwest tourist destination, is proud to announce its recognition as a 2024 Climate Champion by the Dane County Office of Energy and Climate Change. This prestigious award highlights Cave of the Mounds’ continued commitment to environmental sustainability and responsible stewardship of natural resources.
The Climate Champion status is awarded to businesses and organizations that demonstrate exceptional leadership in addressing climate change through innovative practices. Cave of the Mounds earned this designation for its energy efficiency initiatives and renewable energy use. Among its most notable efforts is the installation of solar panels near a prairie restoration project, which reduces the cave’s carbon footprint while supporting the regeneration of local ecosystems.
