This December, get ready for a magical holiday experience at Cave of the Mounds! Our special event turns the cave into a beautiful holiday wonderland, and it’s perfect for the whole family.
Explore the Cave with Dazzling Lights
Imagine walking through the cave, surrounded by sparkling holiday lights! The colorful glow makes the cave feel magical, like you’ve stepped into a storybook. The underground adventure is fun for everyone, and it’s a great way to celebrate the season. The cave stays at a cozy 50 degrees all year, so while it’s chilly outside, you’ll be warm below ground!
Enjoy the Festive Fun Above Ground
The fun doesn’t stop in the cave! When you come back above ground, you’ll find even more holiday lights shining in the trees, on the barn, and all around the buildings. We’ve decorated the whole property with twinkling lights and cheerful decorations everywhere you look.

Whether you’re walking through the glowing cave or checking out the sparkling outdoor displays, Cave of Lights is a great way to get into the holiday spirit. Bring your family and friends and make some special holiday memories together!
Plan Your Visit
- 9 AM to 5 PM: Monday through Thursday in December (last entry to the cave at 4 PM)
- 9 AM to 7 PM: Friday through Sunday in December (last entry to the cave at 6 PM)
- Closed: Christmas Eve and Christmas Day
