Celebrate the Discovery at Cave of the Mounds!
Come join the fun as we celebrate the 84th birthday of Cave of the Mounds! In August, we’ll have special activities above and below ground that are perfect for kids and families. Whether it’s your first time or you’ve been here before, Discovery Days is a great time to visit and learn more about this amazing cave.
Explore the Cave with a Flashlight
Have you ever wondered what it was like to be one of the first people to discover a cave? During Discovery Days, you can find out! We’re giving everyone a flashlight so you can explore the cave just like the original explorers did back in 1939. This special tour lets you see the cave in a new way—watch as your flashlight shows cool shadows and hidden rock formations!
Walk Through History
Want to learn more about the history of the cave and the land around it? Take a free History Walk at 10 AM or 1 PM each day! You’ll walk around the property with a guide and hear stories about how the cave was discovered and what life was like on the farm here many years ago.
You can also visit the Historic Brigham Farm, where we’ll have displays that show even more cool facts about the area and its history.
No Need to Sign Up in Advance
One of the best things about Discovery Days is that you don’t need to sign up ahead of time! Just show up, and you can choose which activities you want to do. Whether you want to explore the cave with your flashlight, go on a history walk, or visit the farm, you can decide once you’re here.
