New Group Reservation Request
Thank you for your interest in a field trip or group outing to Cave of the Mounds National Natural Landmark.
The heart of any visit to Cave of the Mounds is the Cave Tour. You may also extend your learning with a variety of above-ground activities such as Mini Courses, Cave Miner packs, and more. Steps to make a request:
- Choose Number of Participants (Cave Tour “Tickets”)
- Enter the number of children, youth, and adults
- Select a Date & Time Slot
- Choose a general window for your start time:
- 9:00 AM (until 1:00 PM) or
- 1:00 PM (until 4:00 PM)
- During checkout, you can specify your exact preferred start time.
- Choose a general window for your start time:
- Select Above-Ground Activities (“Add-Ons”)
- Choose from Mini Courses, Gemstone Mining (“sluicing”), Geodes, and more.
- Checkout
- Provide additional details and notes.
Important Details:
- Reservations are only final after we have confirmed your request.
- When your request is confirmed, you will receive a confirmation email including an invoice. At this time we will also charge a $100 deposit to your credit card. This deposit will count towards your final balance.
- If our calendar cannot accommodate your request, we will contact you within the next few business days to explore alternative dates and times.
- Reservation deposits are not refundable but are transferable for up to 1 year.
- The remaining balance may be paid by credit card over the phone, by check, or in person.

Wristband Reward
Cave of the Mounds has a fantastic Wristband Reward for groups that pay their full balance at least 2 weeks in advance. We will mail you wristbands that are color-coded and decorated with fun, geological themes. These make organizing participants into cave tour groups –and each wristband is also a free child’s ticket for a return visit! Children 12 and under can use the wristband for free admission and teens and adults for half off on a regular tour! (Regular tours only–excludes discounted group tours, specialty tours, events, etc. Valid for 1 year from the date of visit. )
Pay Deposit for Existing Reservation
If you’ve already made a reservation with us for your group or field trip and received a confirmation email and invoice, you can pay your deposit by credit card here.
If you prefer to pay by check or by phone, please refer to the instructions in your confirmation email.
Please note:
- The $100 reservation deposit counts towards your total balance.
- Reservation deposits are not refundable but are transferable for up to 1 year.
- The remaining balance may be paid by credit card over the phone, by check, or in person.
